It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our colleague and friend, Antoine de Chevigny, which occurred on Monday 17 August 2026.

Antoine was a brilliant, meticulous and creative young scientist. Everyone describes him as a kind, passionate and inspiring researcher. We will miss him deeply.

Recruited by the CNRS as a research fellow in 2011, Antoine de Chevigny began his career at the Institute of Developmental Biology in Marseille (IBDM), where he studied the mechanisms regulating bulbar neurogenesis. He then joined the Mediterranean Institute of Neurobiology (INMED, Marseille) in 2017, where he refocused his research on the mechanisms of embryonic cortical neurogenesis under physiological and pathological conditions, and their application to the development of innovative therapies for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease.
A recognised specialist in neurodevelopment, his work has led to significant advances in the field, such as the discovery of the role of the NeuroD2 transcription factor in neocortical development.

Deeply involved in community activities, Antoine De Chevigny was also vice-president of the Neural Networks Development Club, for which he organised the annual scientific conference.

Inmed extends its deepest sympathies to his family, his friends and all his colleagues and staff.
